New audio and video recordings available in English

The portal’s archives have gained almost 70 video interviews, now available with English subtitles and recordings of radio broadcasts associated with important events from the time of John Paul II’s papacy.

Close to the Pope – video reminiscence

Among the interviewees reminiscing about Karol Wojtyła/John Paul II there are: his school friends - Eugenius Mróz and Stanisław Jura, actress from the theatre he performed in - Halina Królikiewicz-Kwiatkowska, members of Pr. Wojtyła’s youth group – Teresa Malecka, Stanisław Rybicki and Janusz Rieger, a legendary “Solidarność” activist – Anna Walentynowicz, John Paul II associates from Rome – among others Prof. Stanisław Grygiel and Card. Zenon Grocholewski, Church officials – Card. Marian Jaworski and Archbp. Tadeusz Andrusiewicz, the director of a film dedicated to John Paul II Krzysztof Zanussi and many more fascinating figures.

In the “Transcription” tab under every recording you will find the contents of the interview written down. Upon clicking on a certain paragraph, you will be brought to its corresponding part of the video.

The recordings come from the archives of the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II and the Tertio Millenio Institute, made in 2006-18.

Historic broadcasts

Additionally, we uploaded some radio broadcasts in English, among them: an abridged version of the inauguration of the pontificate and the Pope’s speeches from the UN forum in New York in 1979 and 1995.
Soon on the portal new valuable documents will become available in English.
