Józef Życiński (1948 - 2011) - professor of philosophy, doctor of theology, diocesan bishop of Tarnów in 1990-1997, metropolitan archbishop of Lublin in 1997-2011.
Lecturer at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Cracow (today the John Paul II Pontifical University), Grand Chancellor of the Catholic University of Lublin, member of numerous scientific committees, as well as the Joint Working Group of the Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches (1999-2005). Honorary Doctor of the Jagiellonian University (2005).
Participated in the seminars in Castel Gandolfo (discussions of scientists from various fields organized by the Pope in his summer residence).
